Anupam Joshi, PhD, is the Acting Dean of the College of Engineering and Information Technology at UMBC. He serves as the Director of the UMBC Center for Cybersecurity and is the Oros Family Professor of Technology in the Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering (CSEE) at UMBC. Anupam also holds Affiliate appointments in the Ericsson School of Aging at UMBC and the School of Medicine at UMB. He is an Adjunct Faculty at IIT Delhi’s School of IT. He has been at UMBC for over 25 years.
Anupam is a principal faculty member in UMBC’s Ebiquity Research Group, a cohort of faculty and students who explore the interactions between mobile and social computing, artificial intelligence, and data science applied to areas of critical societal importance such as health care and cyber security. In his almost 30 years in academia, he has published over 275 technical papers, with a citation count of over 31,000 and an h-index of 90. He has obtained research support from a variety of federal (NSF, NIST, DARPA, DOD) and industrial (IBM, Microsoft, Northrop Grumman, Qualcomm, Lockheed Martin) sources and holds 9 U.S. patents.
Anupam obtained a PhD in computer science from Purdue University and a B. Tech in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
