Lauren Zinn is a data scientist/policy analyst at The Hilltop Institute. She contributes to the development, operations, and support of predictive models of avoidable hospital events, diabetes complications, and all-cause mortality.
Prior to joining Hilltop, Lauren was a data scientist at First Financial of Maryland Federal Credit Union. There, she worked on an analysis of potential credit union area expansion. Specifically, she sourced, cleaned, interpreted, and analyzed data from multiple data sources, and joined each vector data set to base geospatial data. She created several outputs that met the National Credit Union Administration criteria and that were optimized according to different priorities expressed by decision makers. Lauren created companion maps for viable options using matplotlib and plotly Python toolboxes along with shapefiles downloaded from the US Census Bureau. Lauren also worked on a project to build a machine learning model to predict members at risk of future attrition. Lauren previously gained experience as a virtual design & construction engineer at The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company. In this role, she created model visualizations and managed the Building Information Modeling (BIM) process by coordinating subcontractor modeling.
Lauren obtained her MS in data analytics, MS in business administration, and BS in engineering and management from Clarkson University.
